The Owu Kingdom has announced the death of Chief Raobil Isola Akinsipo, the Akogun of Owu Kingdom who died on Tuesday, 15th October, 2024 after a brief illness and had since been laid to rest according to Islamic rites.
In a statement from the Owu Kingdom on behalf of the HRM Oba Prof Saka Matemilola FNSE Otileta VII Olowu Oluyalo of Owu Kingdom Abeokuta, the Palace described Chief Akinsipo as a distinguished leader, who exemplified exceptional service and dedication to humanity.
The statement reads : it is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our revered Chief Raobil Isola Akinsipo, the esteemed Akogun of Owu Kingdom, Abeokuta, on Tuesday, October 15, 2024. Following a brief illness, Chief Akinsipo was laid to rest on the same day, in accordance with Islamic traditions"

According to the statement, Chief Akinsipo served the Owu Kingdom in various capacities including as the Head of Iwarefa Owu, traditional community Head, Akogun, a renowned Ifa expert, seasoned broadcast practitioner, Yoruba Language specialist, Insurance Consultant, and a devout traditionalist.
The statement adds that Chief Akinsipo's unwavering commitment, wisdom, and contributions to Owu Kingdom are irreplaceable, saying his passing leaves a void in the Owu family, community, and the broader Owu people adding that the Owu Kingdom takes solace in their faith, praying that his soul rests in perfect peace.
The statement concludes by praying that Chief Akinsipo's legacy continue to inspire generations, while his memory will be forever blessed.
