Facts to meditate upon ;

Everyone will need some level of assistance at particular levels in their lives

– You can’t single handedly do everything in life without some  assistance

– If you get all men’s approval but fail to get God’s help, It is a wasted effort

–  If God withdraws his help from man. That man becomes vulnerable. (John 15: 5) Without God’s help you are nothing

– When you are enjoying his help, things click by itself

- Perhaps you are afraid and worried about certain issues…. God is saying: fear not, for i am with you and will help you. We’ll be praying for Divine help today.

Let's us begin by first taking a look at what the s eipture says in s Hebrew 12  2  which emjoined us to  look up to Jesus , The author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

This verse is enjoining us to fix our gaze at Jesus Christ who also fixes his haze at God the father  and foe the joy placed before him endured the suffering of the cross.

The scripture is replete with verses that spoke about God being our helper. Let's take a look at few.

How is God our helper ?

1. The Lord truly is our helper throughout life's journey. As Creator of the heavens and earth. He serves, supplies and supports His children by providing all our needs.

Often times, Christians are known to make the utterances, we are serving God . We serve a living God ? But, come to think of it , do we really Steve God or is it God that serve us?

In the true sense of the word, it is God that serve us. 

Our helper in every time of need is the Lord Himself, and every believer can say “the Lord is my helper”. In this brief statement we discover three things:-

1. This help is ADEQUATE because it is divine, almighty help – “The Lord is my helper.” When we are in need friends come to our aid, but often they cannot help us because their resources are inadequate. The Lord’s resources are never inadequate. His name is El-Shaddai (Genesis 17:1), which means that He is “the Enough God”.

2. This help is always AVAILABLE because the Lord who doesn’t change is always with us – “The Lord is my helper.” Link together Hebrews 13:8, the end of verse 5, and verse 6. Do you recall that Mary and Martha said, “If you had been here, my brother would not have died” (John 11:21,32)? But He is always here – Psalm 46:1.

3. This help is APPROPRIATE to our individual needs because it is personally dispensed to each of us according to our need – “The Lord is my helper.” My needs are different from those of everyone else and His help is appropriate.

In Hebrews 13:1-9 we are shown several ways in which we need the Lord’s help if we are to live the Christian life effectively. Let’s look at them:-

 

How does God serve us through the provision of all our needs: 

1. He takes care of our physical needs.

God promises to provide what we need (Philippians 4:19, Matthew 6:31-32). He created the universe and gives food to every living things- Including you and me. Thesame God who provides food for the animals will not allow us to go without (Psalm 145:15-16, Luke 12:24-26).

Matthew 7:11 says, “If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him?

Practical examples: Have you ever been in an hopeless situation  and all of a sudden, help comes where and when you least expect it? Sometimes you will say this is angelic visitation? That is God in action, it happens to all of us except we pretend or feign ignorance not to acknowledge  his awesome power in providing for our needs.

2. He protects us from all evils:

Psalm 121:4-7

Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.

5 The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand.

6 The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.

7 The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.

Let us also consider Psalm 91. This Psalm speaks volumes of God's protection for us. We may wish to consider its wordings one after the other if time will permit us.
