It was a wonderful moment laced with joy and shared feelings of love this Monday at the Ogun State Broadcasting Corporation newsroom as an Assistant General Manager in the Corporation, Mr. Mobolaji Faiounbo is bowing out of service after several years of meritorious service to the service of the Ogun State government.
In an emotion-ladened valedictory session and a special editorial meeting held in his honour, members of the newsroom in what can easily be descibed as " Newsroom Confraternity", took turn to pay glowing tributes to their boss and one of their own, the retiring Assistant General Manager, Mr Mobolaji Fajounbo popular called" Oga FAJ".
Opening the floor, Chairman of OGBC Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Mr. Chris Ogbu described him as a father figure who impacted those under him positively and served as a positive role model .
He said on the professional front, Mr. Fajounbo is a thoroughbred professional and a meticulous person who knows how to commend and criticise without injuring the emotion or personality of the person concern.
Other members including, the Senior Assistant General Manager, Mr. Gbenga Osindele, Controller,News and Current Affairs , Mrs Doyin Oloruntola, Manager Programme Services, Mrs. Temitope Okunola ,Mrs Toyin Oyelumade, Mr. Waheed Ogunjobi, Mr. Biodun Ogundipe, Mr John Teidi, Mrs Nurat Ayangbemi,Mrs Bisi Musari, Mrs. Bisola Oludotun, Mrs Biodun Fasola, Mrs. Tope Ugbechie, Mr. Akeem Sulaimon, Mrs Bimpe Wahab, Mr. Tope Babalola among others made positive remarks about Mr. Fajounbo who according to them touched the lives of everyone.
A consummate media professional, news editor and news room guru, FAJOUNBO,Bola Ola was born on the
25th August 1964 and he hails from ifo local government of Ogun State.
After his West African School Certificate Examination which he passed with good grades, Bola enrolled for a Bachelors of Art Degree in Theatre Arts at the Prestigious University of Ibadan popularly called UI, where he bagged a Bachelors of Arts, B.A(Hons) in Theatre Art in 1991. Not done, he returnd to his Alma mata in the year 2006 to obtain a Master's in Communication Arts (MCA).
He joined the service of the Ogun State Broadcasting Corporation .and rose through the rank until his present position as Assistant General Manager, News and Current Affairs Division.
In recognition of his professional prowess and acume, Bola was honoured with the award of Editot of the year in the 1999.
Also, in May, 2000, he was also honoured with the award of Best Performance/Dedication to duty in the news division, where he spent the better part of his professional career.
In the same vein, in December 2006 he also bagged the award of the Best Performance in News/Current Affairs diring OGBC 30th anniversary.
Similar feat was repeated in June 2012 when he was conferred with the Best Staff member in News/Current Affairs for the month of June, and in April 2014 , he again clinched the post of the Best Staff member in News/Current Affairs for the month of April.
A mentor to many is a very meticulous professionals whose attention to details is not just professional, but exceptional.
