Trouble is brewing in the quiet village of Ekurugbudu near Atan in Ijebu North East Local government of Ogun State as a Chinese Mining company, CNBM is planning to shortchange the families of a landed property that has huge deposits of rocks which they have both had an agreement on since the year 2019.
Upon the agreement between both parties, certain conditions were laid down for the lease to be respected by them.
Some of the conditions put forward to the company were, the construction of a Town Hall, Provision of assess road to and from the mining site, provision of portable water for the inhabitants, Recruitment of a sizeable number of indigenes as workers among others
It was gathered that the management of the company did not only fail to fulfill these conditions, they denied all the rights and privileges naturally meant for the three families of Oyadina, Agbon and Balogun Okusu.
The worrisome aspect of the matter is that the Chinese company CNBM has extended its operations beyond the 34.79 acres of land upon which a deed of land lease was signed on 25th October,2019.
The families also alleged that the company equally refused to release it timetable for blasting which often denied the local farmers the opportunity of working on their farmland.
Surprisingly, it was stated that the Chinese company CNBM is planning to hide under the finger of Oba Otukoya, the Oligun of Ilugun North, who is never a member of any of the three families that owned the landed property.
The Kaabiyesi is said to be using the royal power to corner all what are accruable to the affected families and has now gone as far as deploying the police at the Atan Division in Ijebu to molest, harass and intimidate members of Oyadina, Agbon and Balogun Okusu families who have sent safe our soul petition to the State government through the ministry of environment.
It was further gathered that despite the petition, the Oba, is hell bent over the desires to swindle the families of their entitlement and inheritance.
