Recently, the President of Yoruba Indigenes Foundation (YIF), Dr Olumide Aderibole, hails the supreme court pronouncement, which favours direct allocation of resources and full financial autonomy for the 774 local governments in Nigeria.
In a Press Release, signed by Mr Sanjo Olawuyi, the Director of Communications and Strategies of Yoruba Indigenes Foundation. Aderibole expressed joy and happiness that, the regime of President Bola Tinubu, did not take any undue advantage of the observed anomalities in the funding process of the 774 local governments in Nigeria.
This move is an empirical inference that, President Tinubu is a grass root politician, who is truly empathetic for the commoners and public spirited for the masses.
It is a landmark judgement, which had succeed in adding another layer of trust in the new hope agenda of President Tinubu.
YIF urges the appropriate local government regulatory agencies, to institute cognates monitoring mechanism and enforce accountability by the local government executives. As this regime of direct local governments funding, should not be seen as business as usual.
The synopsis of this phenomenal judicial pronouncement is that, it will catalyse grass root development and serve as an impetus for democratic growth among commoners across the nooks and cranny of Nigeria.
In conclusion, the Yoruba Indigenes Foundation, is making use of this judicial pronouncement, to call on the two arms of government at the center "the executive and the legislature" to fast track all the processes and the legal prerequisites, that will institute, establish and install Regional System of government in Nigeria,
