FUNAAB Commends FG's Agricultural Initiatives

_... Ready to Collaborate with the Government_

The Governing Council of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), under the leadership of the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdur-Rasheed Ayotunde Olabomi Odundun IV, the Aragbiji of Iragbiji, has expressed commendation for the Federal Government's significant advancements in agricultural mechanisation and its persistent efforts to boost food production across the nation.

The 15th Aragbiji highlighted the University’s readiness to collaborate with the Federal Government to further these impactful initiatives.

According to the monarch, the Federal Executive Council (FEC) has recently approved the acquisition of 2,000 tractors, 4,000 disc ploughs, and 1,200 tractor-trailers.

He noted that the acquisitions were integral components of the National Agricultural Mechanisation Programme (NAMP), adding that it aligned with the Visitor, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s emergency declaration on food security, aiming to catalyse farming activities and fortify the nation’s food security.

His Royal Majesty emphasised that the strategic move was designed to strengthen food security throughout Nigeria, adding that the commendable efforts of the Federal Government also aligned with FUNAAB’s Mandate of Teaching, Research and Extension Services, as well as parts of its goals to advance agricultural development and innovation.

"FUNAAB stands ready to partner with the Federal Government in these critical agricultural initiatives. Our University is well-equipped with the expertise and resources to support and enhance these programmes, ultimately contributing to the nation’s food security and agricultural sustainability."

The highly revered monarch, who is also the 8th Pro-Chancellor of the University, stressed that FUNAAB remained committed to playing a pivotal role in the agricultural sector, leveraging its academic, research, and community engagement capabilities to support national development goals.
