CULTURAL PROMOTION WILL ENHANCE ECONOMIC PROSPERITY- TUNDE KELANI.



An elder state man and international cinematographer, Mr. Tunde Kelani has advocated the promotion of Cultural heritage as a vehicle for economic prosperity of Nigeria. Mr. Tunde Kelani said this at the unveiling of an Adire museum and training centre of the Asani and Aduke Foundation in Olomore area of Abeokuta the Ogunstate capital.
According to him, language and fabrics  as a product of identity of the people should be promoted, developed and sustained. Mr. Tunde Kelani who commended the initiator of the project  said the centre will empower the young people with skills for global relevance.
Mr. Kelani also noted that local food consumption will guarantee food sovereignty and mitigate the current food scarcity in the country. Earlier in her welcome address the initiator of the project Mrs. Oluronke Adeboyejo said the vision of Asani and Aduke is to promote the Yoruba cultural heritage through the fabric industry and called for all hands to be on deck to protect, sustain and utilise the Local Adire fabrics as an economic heritage for incoming generation.
In his goodwill message, a representative of The Foundation for the Preservation of Yoruba Culture and Heritage Dr. Tola Adenekan assured that the organisation will partner with the Asani and Aduke Foundation for the forth coming 2nd Adire festival as well as high level advocacy with policy makers for the promotion of Adire fabrics.
Other speakers at the event including the representative of the Ogunstate branch controller of the Central Bank of Nigeria: Mr. Oyekunle, Corp. Commander of the Ogunstate trace Corps: Comm. Adeyeye and Olomore B1 Lane CDA Housing estate Chairman: Mr. Obimakinde where unanimous in calling on government at all levels to adopt the use of Adire fabric in schools, offices and public functions as a deliberate action to encourage the local industry.
