It was a big spectacle this Friday at the June 12 cultural centre kuto Abeokut as a kolaj of artworks on the personage of the Nobel laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka who clocks 90 on Saturday was showcased to the public.
The event was part of the line up of activities for the Kongi at 90 celebration which has been on in the last couple of weeks.
The venue of the exhibition was dotted with a kolaj of artworks all of which put different expressions to the personage of the Nobel laureate from his childhood age of two when he took the bold decision to the admiration of his parents and siblings to start a formal education even when he was not yet riped for school.
The Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo while declaring the art exhibition opened appreciated the different artists for the wonderful work, saying some of the artworks are like a direct replica of the Nobel laureate while also noting that the event shows that in this part of the world we should not bury our talents.
He said the exhibition of various creative artworks are testament to the fact that there are many potential Nobel laureate still hidden, saying the talent show is to encourage the younger ones and as well blow their minds and encourage them to greater heights.
The Chairman of the Society of Nigerian Artists Mr Oladimeji Oluwagbemiga Isaac who conducted the Alake of Egbaland round the exhibition stand informed that no less than 65 artists participated In the exhibition using different medium of expressions to depict what Professor Soyinka meant to them.
He said the exhibition apart from being done to honour Professor Soyinka was also an avenue to nurture the young talents and emphasised on the importance of art.
Different school children participated in the exhibition winning different prizes as a way to encourage creativity and talent among them
