The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has called on residents to take ownership of public infrastructures, particularly roads in their various localities, saying it is their duty to protect the roads as they belong to them.
Speaking at the official commissioning of the first phase of the 6-kilometer Siun - Owode Egba- Ofada road, in Obafemi Owode Local Government area of the state, the governor charged people especially residents of the area to take ownership of the road and other projects across the State. "You are to protect them as they belong to you” he stated.
The governor while expressing his happiness to the people of Owode and Siun Communities in particular and Ogun state people in general said that the project realisation was a testament to dedication and hard work of all people involved.
‘It is definitely another remarkable moment to announce of our developmental drive in the state.
The governor promised that his administration would continue to work tirelessly and to be a responsive, inclusive and participatory administration to ensure that he delivers the needed infrastructure across all the nooks and crannies of the beautiful State
Governor Abiodun vows that his administration would continue to do all it could to make life better for the people of the State.
He maintained that his administration would not relent in its effort to complete all the ongoing road projects initiated by his administration.
Earlier in his welcome address, the
State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya, said that the road would ease transportation of Agricultural Produce from agrarian communities like Someke to urban areas which would in turn improve the economy value of Owode adjoining towns and communities thereby creating direct and indirect employment and business opportunities for residents of Owode and other neighbouring communities .
The Commissioner noted that the re-constructed road will also serve as an alternative route to motorists going to Lagos State avoiding the interchange, using Owode- Ofada as a veritable detour to link the Lagos - Ibadan
expressway and relief the ever busy Abeokuta Sagamu Inter-Change Express Road,
In their separate goodwill messages the Olu of Obafe, OBA Taofeek Owojobi and the Iya Oloja Chief Mrs. Yemisi Abasi respectively appreciated the State governor for the prompt intervention on the road, assuring continuity in their supports for his administration at all time.
