The Towulade of Akinale in Ogun State, Oba Olufemi Ogunleye, has thrown his full weight behind the new executive members of the Ogun State Chapter of Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), saying he will use his influence to ensure the realisation of all their planned objectives.
The foremost monarch, who is a member of the Institute and former Corporate Affairs Manager of the defunct Nigeria Airways, gave the assurance when the new executive members of the Chapter led by the Chairman, Mrs. Oluwaseun Boye, paid him a courtesy visit at his palace in Akinale.
Oba Ogunleye said he was very proud of the steps taken by the new executives so far and ready to support them in ensuring that Ogun NIPR bounces back to reckoning.
"You made me proud for bringing me back into the fold," the traditional ruler added.
While relating the events that led to his being appointed as the Public Relations Manager of Nigeria Airways, Oba Ogunleye urged the Ogun NIPR Executive members not to blame any circumstances they might find themselves but strive to create a better circumstances for themselves as situations that looks frustrating in the first instance may eventually become very fruitful and exciting.
"Never blame any circumstances you find yourself, create your own circumstances instead," he stated.
Speaking earlier, the Ogun NIPR Chairman, Mrs Oluwaseun Boye, reeled out the seven-point agenda of the new executives, saying the plan of getting a befitting Secretariat for the Chapter was paramount to the new executives.
She urged the monarch to do everything within his power to assist in securing a piece of land where the Chapter will be settled once and for all.
Meanwhile, the public presentation of a book written by Oba Ogunleye, canvassing codification of constitutional roles for traditional rulers in the country, holds on Thursday January 26, 2023.
Venue of the event is the reception Centre of Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library Complex, Abeokuta at 11am.
The book is titled: “Owu Akinale In Contemporary Abeokuta: The Reflections of a Journalist, PR Icon, Law Scholar and Traditional Ruler.”
Oba Ogunleye was in his hey days, especially in the 1970s an accomplished Aviation Reporter, after which he was appointed as Spokesman and later General Manager, Public Relations of the defunct Nigeria Airways.
Among those present during the visit was a fellow of the institute and past Chairman in Ogun State, Mr. Akin Okudero, Executive Secretary of Nigeria Council for Registered Insurance Brokers, ( NCRIB) and also a past Chairman of the Chapter Mr. Tope Adaramola, Mr. Bimbo Alagbe, also a past Chairman and a former Public Relations Executive with Globacom Ltd. Mr. Dare Folarin.
