The Arole Iganmode Olofin & Olota of Otta, Awori Kingdom, His Majesty, Oba Professor Adeyemi Obalanlege Ph.D (Lanlege Ekun II) on Thursday visited the Alaafin Oyo, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi (Iku Baba Yeye) today, in the ancient town of Oyo over the issue of growing insecurity in the South West Region.
In a releaseby the Personal Assistant to the Olota of Otta, Prince Adeyemi Sulaimon Olusesi,
Professor Obalanlege thanked the Alafin for his leadership quality and his unrelenting efforts towards the protection of lives and properties in South West among others.
He however expressed his concern over the increasing tension in the region including the continuous attack on various town in Yorubaland by suspected fulani’s
He further charged the Alafin not to relent as he further urged other traditional rulers to see how best they could maintain peace in their various domain.
In his response, Iku Baba Yeye commended Arole Iganmode, describing his visit as timely and historical.
His Imperial Majesty assured Olota of his commitment in ensuring deserving peace in Yorubaland.
The Alaafin further appealed to all sons and daughters of Yorubaland not to embrace violence even in the face of provocation.
There is need to re-consider the adopted system of Government in Nigeria, he concluded.
Olota was accompanied by distinguished members of Olota-in-Council among whom are; High Chief Olarenwaju Bashorun (Seriki of Otta), High Chief Ganiu Dada (Oluwo Itoki), High Chief Adedayo Akindele Eleku (Lisa of Otta), and High Chief Ezekiel Bamisaiye Fadipe (Aro of Otta).
