The high rate of domestic violence which include physical abuse, intimidation and harassment remains worrisome to the General Overseer of Victory life Bible church, Apostle Lawrence Achudume.
Baring his mind in an online chat, he informed that the number of deaths as a result of domestic violence is on the increase stressing that domestic violence could be emotional, mental,sexual and verbally.
Apostle Achudume posited that unemployment, poverty, lack of patience and love among couples are some of the causes of domestic violence adding that an abuser often engage intimidating behaviour with the aim of destroying the self worth and confidence of the victim.
Informing that domestic violence could trigger depression and emotional trauma, Apostle Achudume charged the victims to seek psychological, medical and spiritual counselling warning that no victim of domestic violence should bottle up emotions and left to suffer unjustly.
And with families in lockdown as a result of covid-19 outbreak, Apostle Achudume posited that victims of domestic violence will increase just as he charged the authorities concerned to always enforce relevant punishment on abusers stressing that majority of women are being abused one way or the other on a daily basis by their spouses.
